Exporting Kleopatra Keys for Use with Trustera

Import requires both the public and private keys. When exporting from Kleopatra, you must export each key to a separate file. Both files should be selected when importing into your Trustera account.

  1. Select your key
  2. To export your public key:
    1. Open the right-click menu.
    2. Select Export Certificates… to export the public part of the key.
    3. A save dialog will open. Note that Kleopatra suggests a filename based on a unique internal id within the key
    4. Navigate to the desired folder.
    5. Change the filename, if desired. Because the public and private keys are exported separately, we suggest naming the public key asc. Important: The format of the file is based on the file extension. You must specify .asc to create a file that Trustera can import.
    6. Click Save to export the public key.
  3. To export your private key:
    1. Open the right-click menu.
    2. Select Export Secret Keys… to export the private, or secret, part of the key.
    3. The export dialog opens. You can type the path and filename directly into this dialog. If you prefer to navigate to the destination folder, you can click the button next to the field to open a save dialog. Note that if you use the save dialog, you will return to this export dialog when you click Save.
    4. Whether typing the name or using the save dialog, we suggest naming the file asc.
    5. Once the filename is entered, make sure to check the box for ASCII armor to produce a file that Trustera can import.
    6. Click OK to export the private key.
