Thanks for using Trustera Security Services. Here we describe how we collect, use and handle your information when you use our websites, software and services ("Services").
Our Main Overriding Policy and Philosophy
We don’t store, collect or posses any of your content. Ever. Not in clear format, not in encrypted format. Your content is yours and stays on your device or with the provider you chose to host the content. Our architecture guarantees that your content and associated data is never (not even temporarily) stored on a Trustera, LLC server. Never, ever.
What & Why
We collect and use the following information to provide, improve and protect our Services:
We collect and associate with your account your email address. If you have paid for any of our services, we will have a record of the date the payment was made, the type and duration of the subscription. If you chose to provide us your name, company name, and address we will store that as well.
When you use our Services, we store a unique ID for each encryption event, the date and time of the event, plus an identifier for any document rights management (DRM) features you may have enabled.
We collect aggregate information from and about the devices you use to access the Services, and about what features of the services are used (how many messages were flagged do not forward, for example). This includes things like the application you used to request the encryption event, the type of browser and device you use, the web page you visited before coming to our sites.
Cookies and other technologies
We use technologies like cookies and pixel tags to provide, improve, protect and promote our Services. For example, cookies help us with things like remembering your user name for your next visit, understanding how you are interacting with our Services, and improving them based on that information. You can set your browser to not accept cookies, but this may limit your ability to use the Services.
We will only share information as discussed below, and we won’t sell it to advertisers or other third-parties.

Other Trustera Users
Our Services provide your public key to other Trustera ecosystem users requesting to send you an encrypted item.
Law & Order
Should Trustera, LLC be issued a subpoena to provide information regarding your account – based on our architecture we can only provide your email address, an encryption ID for each encryption event, the date and time of the event, and it’s DRM (document rights management status). The DRM status may include (depending on what you specified) an event status with respect to copy/forward/print/start time/end time, and revoke. We have no way to associate any content or the type of content with the encryption ID and event. If you have paid for our services, we will have a record of the date the payment was made, the type and duration of the subscription plus any contact information you provided at the time of purchase. There is no other information stored or otherwise known by Trustera.
Stewardship of what data we do have is critical to us and is a responsibility that we take very, very seriously. Fortunately for you and for us our basic structure and architecture makes certain no useful data resides in our possession. We’ll abide by the following principles ﾠwhen receiving, scrutinizing and responding to government requests for our users’ data:
- Take a stance of non-compliance unless required to by law,
- Be transparent,
- Fight blanket requests,
- Protect all users, and
- Provide trusted services.
We have a team dedicated to keeping what little of your information we have secure and test for vulnerabilities. All passphrases are encrypted using your keys, so we don’t have access nor can we provide access.
We’ll retain information you store on our Services for as long as we need it to provide you the Services. If you delete your account, we’ll also delete this information. But please note: (1) there might be some latency in deleting this information from our servers and back-up storage; and (2) we may retain this information if necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
If we are involved in a reorganization, merger, acquisition or sale of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal. We will notify you (for example, via a message to the email address associated with your account) of any such deal and outline your choices in that event.
